Brick Lane

And it came to pass that Nagy from Hungary on the Sabbath day beckoned Anneke to journey with him and Nurgul into the Bangladeshi Town of Brick Lane. And behold they came upon many bars and restaurants. They visited the land of the first and finest baigel and it was there that Anneke ate out of her first brown paper bag in London!

BRIXTON AND THE JAMAICA LINK UP

I went to get grocery today in Brixton as I discovered this little corner store there that is reasonable in prices and stocks almost anything Jamaican you can think of! From Grace instant chocolate mix to Excelsior water crackers!

As I got my stuff and was leaving I ran into two Jamaicans (at different intervals) Keste Miller and Milton Walker. Of course we chatted and exchanged numbers. Man it was a good surprise.

On my way back home I thought to myself "Brixton oh Brixton"! It led me to formulate this hypothesis: If you hear that an individual is living in London and you dont run into him or her in Brixton - a lie dem lie!!

Hahahahah

Bad hair days are going

Well I now have all my toiletries and scenes like these or the hat are no more! At least not for now.....

Bag at last!!

Well after waiting for two weeks and no sign of my bag, I decided to go to Heathrow and see if I could get it. I have just had enough of waiting and not know if and when it would be delivered!

So I boarded the Picadilly line today to Terminal 4. After Security checks, I made my way to the BA desk in arrival and presented my bag claim etc. The agent's response was "so why didn't the Air Jamaica agent get your bag to you?" Well needless to say that kind of question was pointless at that time, so I remarked that I am in no position to proffer a guess. The most I know was that Air Jamaica said they had sent the bag via BA and that it was at Heathrow. Of course he checked the system and was pleased to tell me that the file was closed and there was no update on the system!!

I was most calm - trust me, but point is, there was nothing to get upset with just yet!

So I said in a 'little' firm voice that I am here to retrieve my bag and he said well come let us look over there. Well the bag was nicely packed among at least 20 such other with a note above it that the passengers must be contacted to collect their luggage!! Imagine!!!

Well all is well that ends well but this is the result of not having the airline flying to the UK anymore - guess time will really tell how this one will work out.

Breathe but ...

I can exhale. I have submitted my 3000 word essay worth 25% of one of my Courses yippie! But I am distressed because after two weeks of arriving in London I am still awaiting a piece of my luggage. You see I came via NY - Air Jamaica and Virgin. Air Jamaica was pleased to have left my bag in Kingston!! I did the necessary claims and they promised to have it sent via a UK flight and deliver it. That was from January 8! It was subsequently sent via a BA flight and I still cant get my bag because Air Jamaica has not instructed BA as to what to do!!! It is disgusting compounded by the fact that "Air Jamaica no longer operates out of Heathrow." I am sick of calling all over the globe. (big sigh)

Well if I dont get it by tomorrow I certainly will be at BA's office to try and retrieve it

Back to reality

I went home for the Christmas break and my gosh I had fun. I was like a starving man with a loaf of bread!! I ate like never before, partied and slept...

Well I am now back in London! Back to reality Anneke - you are a fulltime student for the next couple of months. Collected my papers and the grades are very good, comments were great. I think I am on course for my distinction

I concede I actually missed London a bit! I didn't get to see the XFactor finals or Strictly Come Dancing but I am happy Alesha won the latter. I also missed listening to lots of Amy Winehouse (she is a talented writer despite all else).
